Life Coaching

What is Life Coaching?

The word "coach" is borrowed from the town of Kocs (pronounced just like "coach") in Hungary, where a type of large four- wheeled spring suspension carriage came into use in the 15th century. The word morphed from a very luxurious mode of transportation to being a great personal tutor in around 1850. Oxford students of early Victorian England re-imagined the word as a fitting metaphor for the university tutor who could carry a student along to higher achievement.

Most techniques used in modern life coaching have their foundations in mentoring, counseling, and spiritual guidance.

My training and life coaching skills are developed from these domains with one vital addition: my deep belief that working with the body can illuminate important messages that typical coaching practitioners overlook.

Many life and career coaching relationships focus primarily on reasoning, thoughts, values, and behaviors, in service to achieving new life goals. However, most of this is done in a cerebral context. I believe it is critical to include strong somatic elements in my practice.

I have seen demonstrated time and again that our bodies hold more information about our selves than is available in brain centered reasoning. The body holds our brain and has vastly more information to reveal if addressed with full inclusion, care and appreciation. The somatic information that is available through touch is invaluable in expanding awareness, clarifying life goals and directing actions towards effective change and personal growth.

As a modern personal growth and life coach my goal is to provide clients with feedback, insights, and guidance from an outside vantage point. To me, life coaching is an ongoing collaborative partnership built on taking action. Skilled and intuitive, I offer myself as a guide and coach for the person seeking to learn and change their quality of life. I bring many years of experience including a decade involved in human diversity work and years of somatic therapy. I'm well versed in a variety of developmental tools, strategies and interventions. My emphasis working with individuals is a collaborative bodymind approach that weaves together conversations, yoga, massage, awareness exercises, breathwork, and other resources developed uniquely for you.
My goal is to cooperatively reveal self-evolution stages and affirmative discoveries that are available to people seeking to broaden self-awareness and life balance.
